The Wave Climate Change March.
In December, 40,000 activists assembled in London for the Wave march, organised by The Co-operative Group and the Stop Climate Change Coalition.
The Co-operative Party was out in force with activists from many party councils across the UK.
There was a large presence from Co-operative Party Youth, marching behind a newly commissioned banner.
They were joined on the march for a brief time by Ed Miliband MP, Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change and Lord Mandelson the Business Secretary.
The march sent a clear message to the world’s leaders meeting in Copenhagen that a deal to reduce the levels of carbon dioxide emissions is vital to our futures.
The Co-operative Party has long campaigned on environmental issues, and has recently published ‘Collective Power’ a blue print for co-operative ownership of renewable energy sources. |
