Residents who were concerned about plans to put allotments on Gunthorpe Rec contacted their local Labour Candidate, Vince Moon and asked him to find out more about these proposals. Vince was able to obtain and pass on facts and plans to the residents. It turned out that the selling off of the Itter Park allotments by the Tory Council was behind this idea, as alternative allotment sites have to be provided.

Vince also requested that the item be placed on the agenda for the local Neighbourhood Council Meeting and this was duly done. Many residents attended this meeting and several voiced their worries about the loss of such a valuable public place.

The depth of feeling locally against this proposition is clear and Vince will continue to assist the campaigning efforts by local people.
